Education, training and registration of Medical Physics Experts across Europe

From its inception, EFOMP has pursued a policy to improve and coordinate education training of medical physicists across all participating European countries. Several statements on have been published surveys held get an overview the actual situation. At beginning 2020 new survey was distributed amongst 36 National Member Organizations (NMOs), in which questions were based recommendations most recent statements. Thirty-three NMOs (91%) responded, 22 indicated having Registration Scheme (NRS) for Medical Physics Experts (MPEs) place. Another 6 considering such scheme.Results questionnaire showed that there good correspondence between programmes, i.e. division BSc phase, MSc phase clinical after completion MSc. Differences NRSs primarily seen availability composition supervising committee guidelines handling professional misconduct. In addition, some differences topics part programme.The goal universal (registered) MPE accepted by countries is still far away despite progress being made. The procedure approving existing NRS, fulfils criteria as important step forward. Exchange experience, knowledge, ideas and, above all, trainees best approach achieve this goal.
